Sometimes when I think of the future, I get very worried. Fuel reserves are dropping each day (despite the occasional discovery of a new source) and we are bound to run out of fuel at some point in the medium future. Since so much of our economy depends on this, who knows what may happen?

Moreover, the fact that many people are unaware of this, and aren’t familiar with even elementary facts about solar energy, scares me. After all, this is our future. Once there is no fuel left, we will have to use what we currently call green (or alternative) energy sources. When this happens, we will all have wind power generators. “build your own wind turbine” is a sentence I imagine we will hear often in this future. Or “build your own solar panel”.

However, until we reach this point, we must educate our children in order for them to be prepared. First, we must warn them of what is soon to come, that the present they know won’t always be here, and that the “easily available” energy source known as fuel will not always be around. Second, we must describe the importance - and the usefulness - of alternative energy sources such as wind energy, solar energy, hydroelectric energy and so on. Third, we must begin creating practical courses for the creation of alternative energy sources (i.e. building solar panels or wind generators). Only by doing this our children will be prepared for the future that is coming - and not too far from now.
